Religious groups are getting together to call for a ban on the free flash game called Faith Fighter created by Italian-based game developers, molleindustria - which allows you to fight it out with various gods and religious figures from across the world; such as God, Jesus, Budda, Ganesha and of course, the Prophet Mohammed.
Critics say the free Faith Fighter game is "deeply provocative" and "disrespectful" towards all world religions. Muslims are particularly outraged at the game as you can fight as the Prophet Mohammed, and of course, Islamic tradition prohibits drawings of Allah.
A spokesman for the Federation of Muslim Organisations said:
In the current climate, this game can only create fear about religion. Having images depicting Muhammad in this way is also very offensive to our faith.
Douglas Miller, pastor of the Link Church in Birmingham also said:
This game is going out of its way to upset people and I think it should be taken off the internet.
Playing violent video games will ultimately affect your behaviour and this game is deeply offensive and provocative.
A spokesman for the Italian-based molleindustria said:
the purpose of the game was to push gamers to reflect on how sacred representations are often used to fuel or justify conflicts between people.
Having played the game, I don't see what all the fuss is about - it's not violent, nor is it insulting, other than the fact that you can make these gods fight against one another.
What's more, after receiving all this negative attention from religious groups, molleindustria have created abit of a piss take, Faith Fighter 2; which involves clicking on all of the gods, giving them love, before they disappear!
Making Faith Fighter 2 even more P.C, you can now play as an alien, or the flying spaghetti monster!
